What Is The Difference Between A Radiographer, And A Radiology Technician?

I am in a radiography program, and I always see jobs for radiology technician or x-ray technician, but I’m not sure what the difference is. Are they interchangeable or not even close to the same, just wondering.

  1. RadTech - BAS RT(R)(ARRT) says:

Technically, registered radiologic technologists have gone through an accredited program and passed the national registry exam. Technicians have not, although many people incorrectly interchange the terms.

  2. speakn2t says:

People often refer to us as technicians but we are not. that is completely incorrect. we are radiologic technologists. for short, x ray techs. Technologists specialize in the science of a technology and uses scientific knowledge to solve practicel problems. a technician is someone who is trained in the technicalities of a subject.

It seems to me that radiographer, radiology-technician or x-ray technician are synonyms and mean the same, i.e. one who is trained to take x-rays.
