Is the safe? What would you do?

Ok, so I am looking at buying a house. I am a stay at home mom and a college student studying for Radiology. My realtor out of no where offers me a job doing data entry. Now mind you I have like 8 tattoos and I have only met this guy face to face twice. And always to talk about the house and nothing more. I am a pretty face and this makes me nervous. We have never talked about past work history or anything to the effect of what I have done for work. He said he would like to me with me at his office at night to train me for 3 nights. HUH? Who does this? Should I do what my gut is telling me and run as fast as I can in the opposite direction or should I at least look into it? Not to mention he asked before he wanted to drop of a disclaimer if my hubby was working all day. Ok so maybe he wanted him to be there to sign this but when I told him I could have him come home since he was working right down the street he opted to just email it to me. I am really uncomfortable and really need some fast advice. Tried asking my hubby and he was of no help so now I am turning to total strangers. What would you do?

Hi doctors can you help me with my mri of my neck?

MRI OF THE CERVICAL SPINE

HISTORY: Neck pain after head trauma.

FINDINGS: Multisequential, multiplanar MRI imaging of the cervical spine was performed without contrast. There are no comparison studies. The craniocervical junction is within normal limits. The cervical spinal cord is normal in caliber and signal intensity without evidence of masses or syrinx formation. The cervical vertebral bodies are demonstrate no abnormal marrow signal. Alignment is within normal limits. There is no significant disc space narrowing. There are no disc bulges or herniations. No significant central canal or neuroforaminal stenosis is produced. There are no significant endplate or facet degenerative changes. There are no prevertebral soft tissue swelling or paraspinal fluid collections.

IMPRESSION:
1. Unremarkable MRI of the cervical spine.
If it is normal then I wonder why the still dont wont tell me the results since they called to tell me my brain mri was normal. They said the doctor still has the neck results at this time. Interesting!

SIGH…….

Can someone help me solve this case?allied heatlh?

Can someone help me solve this case? its a allied health question?
CASE #1
The patient is complaining of epigastric pain and denies a history of a gastric ulcer. She has a scar in the umbilical region from a laparotomy for acute hypogastric pain from an ectopic pregnancy last year. On examination there is some questionable hepatomegaly with tenderness in that area; however, a CBC shows a normal erythrocyte count with a slight elevation of the leukocyte count, an essentially normal differential, and adequate thrombocytes. An abnormal sonogram and x-rays, with radiology consult, will be done to rule out cholelithiasis.

QUESTIONS:
1.T F The patient has a stomach ulcer.

2. T F The patient’s liver may be enlarged.

3. T F The pain before her laparotomy was sudden and severe.

4.T F A laparotomy means cutting into the stomach.

I want to become a Radiologist…how possible is this?

I still have to go to undergrad next year…and will probably major in some type of science…

I have always been so fascinated by the medical world…in 6th grade we had Greek History and I did my report and presentation on Greek Medicine and thoroughly researched their medicine, early surgeries…etc. I did a whole report on HIV & AIDs Sophomore year as well.

What I am really interested in though is becoming a Diagnostic Radiologist. I have several books on the subject and find it very fascinating.

I know people change their minds etc and I realize how hard getting into medical school is.

I am a good student and learn very quickly but my strengths seem to be English > Science > Maths. So basically, English comes more naturally to me for some reason but I am not horrible at science or math. I just have to try much harder to learn. I have been at college level at reading & sentence structure since I was in 6th grade.

So what I am wondering about is…after undergrad…let’s say I DO get into medical school…graduate….then time for intern & residency. Everyone keeps telling me Radiology is one of the hardest ones to get. I’m trying not to feel discouraged though.

I really feel like I would hopefully be great at this. I have a genuine interest in the science of this career.

When can I start to shadow some doctors? During Undergrad ? What else can I expect to do so I can be a Radiologist intern ? Is it just luck?

I know to try and get the best grades etc…but what else is there ? I currently volunteer at a hospital anyways..

Thanks for any advice…

Is there hope for us or just Divorce?

My husband I have come to think of him as another child in my house as that is how he behaves. I’ve tried talking with him so many times but he just will not communicate with me at a mature level anymore. Most of the time when I want to talk with him about something or tell him something that happened he’ll get into a jokey pattern or just try to make jokes that I’m wrong or I’m going to fail or do badly at whatever I was trying to do. And this is his method of joking.

I’ve asked him to stop and let him know that at certain times it’s just not appropriate to joke and to stop doing it all the time no matter what I’m talking about. I ask him how he’s doing or how his job hunt is going (he’s a radiology tech but there’s virtually no one who wants to hire him and now I feel like we’ve wasted time getting him through school on that since there’s nothing out there) and he’ll say fine and refuses to go beyond that.

He asks me for advice on how to apply and get jobs and I give him advice but then he just shoots all of my suggestions down saying that they are stupid and he feels like an idiot and makes fun of it (for example – I suggessted following up with people regarding jobs – he’ll say oh what am I supposed to say, “Hi this is X, calling about job” “ok bye” cbut it’s a proven technique for getting your name as a bug in the hiring manager’s ear.

So right now the job he is working is customer service which he just got a few weeks ago and is already wanting to quit, which I told him no, you need to get a work history since you have almost nil at all. I’ve held a job and paid all the bills for the entirety of our relationship and am working full time and going to school full time now.

More things I repeatedly ask him to do is to stop yelling and using the “scary voice” to our 4 1/2 year old daughter. She was actually afraid to come home one evening because daddy had yelled at her in the morning, he’s a big guy too, very tall and she was right to be scared. I now have to stop him in his attempts to punish her because he by default goes into that mode.

If the in-laws want to do something and we already have plans that we decided on together, he’ll just rat me out to his parents and say well it was her idea to do this so we can’t come, and somehow that lets his mother-in-law start telling me how wrong I am in the things I do in raising my daughter. He doesn’t really show that he loves or cares for me anymore and wonders why I’ve become an emotional mess with all my stress at carrying the family for so long in a job I keep because in this economy I’m scared to be without any job.

I also do my best to keep the house clean, my daughter happy and bathed, get her to school help her and talk with her about her behavior (she’s in public school pre-K), get the food, dinner, clean up the yard and garden, take care of the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, clothes. And even when he didn’t have a job or school and especially now he doesn’t do anything around the house, just watches TV, plays games on the computer, I’ve begged him and pleaded with him to do things and give him things he needs to do around the house and the grass still goes unmowed and I picked up the slack in the rest of the house.

I’m at the end of my rope and ready to call it quits, I’ve begged and pleaded and asked him just to do the basic necessities around the house and to show that he cares but he seems like he’d be better off living like a child again with his mom and dad. What do I do?!?! I never wanted to get married due to all the marriages and divorces my mom had but that seems like where we’re headed now. He shows me every day he hates me and still wants fun in bed. I can’t make love to someone who never helps me in all the other parts of our life together. He knows what’s expected of him so why does he ignore it?

I even come home from work/school and ask him about the things that he had agreed to do and he just says “Yep” to me in a sarcastic tone and continues to watch TV and play on the internet.

He’s already said no to counseling too, I really wish he’d just keep up his end of the bargain and participate in our life together.

Help Getting Into Northwestern or UIC in Illinois (medical career)?

Hello everyone.

I am a Junior in High School right now, and I am very determined to study for an M.D. I am most looking at Radiology, Plastic Surgery, and Neurology, but right now that doesn’t matter…

I know that medical school is extremely competitive and selective. I was foreign born in a third world country and lived here for 12 years. My first two years of high school were mediocre with respect to my GPA because I slacked off too much. This year I am buckling down and focusing, and with first semester done with I have made an enormous improvement in grades, ranking in the top 10%.

So I have some questions regarding High School and College admissions:

I am only in two AP classes now: AP Latin Literature and AP US History. For my senior year I want to take all AP, as I am confident in my abilities. For my science class, however, I have the choice of AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or both. I am contemplating on taking both of them, but I was rather weak in my sophomore Introductory Chemistry class averaging a B in it. Would taking AP Chemistry be a mistake for me? Right now I am in a Physics class, so next year I will not have been exposed to any chemistry at all for a year.

My first pick University would be either Northwestern or UIC, but I don’t even know if I can get into there, and I am starting to doubt it. I suppose I could get into Loyola or Benedictine (which is close to me) but I want to aim higher.

Are there better Universities in Illinois that I can look into or have a better chance of getting into? Any out of state ones?

If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Questions about getting into medical school?

Hello,
I am a 26 year old, white male. I have over 6 years of radiology experience with registries in radiography and CT. I have a bachelor degree in Sonography with registries in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Echocardiography. I got my bachelor degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Allied Health. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.30. My question is… finally! Do I have a better chance of getting into the Medical College of Georgia for Med. School with a bachelor degree from there and with all my previous medical history? I have yet to take the MCAT or take organic chemistry, but I just wanted an idea of what other people thought about my situation. Maybe, someone who is in the same position as me. Someone who has been in the profession for a while and just worked their way up the proverbial ladder. Thanks, for all the feedback.

Can I get into graduate school?

undergraduate gpa: 3.16
science gpa: 3.0
** I didn’t do very well my second year… i dont have a very good reason for this, I was just very stupid and into more social activities.. however, i did very well my last two years, with an average gpa of 3.6

I have participated in many volunteer activities:
-shadowed doctors, nurses, and technicians in the ER and Radiology Department for 1yr
- volunteered at a pharmacy for 1yr
- shadowed a genetic counselor for 1 yr
- was in a program where we created lessons and taught molecular biology techniques to under privileged high school students (2 semesters)
- tutored homeless people at LA missions in math and writing so they can prepare for the GEDs
- worked at a lab as a student research assistant for 3 yrs and have had a paper published
- worked as a research assistant for oral history research project for (2 semesters)

** I am planning on volunteering as a peer counselor at a rape crisis center and at a autisim center during my year off.
** I also havent taken my GREs yet.

So my question is…. do i have a good chance of getting into a genetic counseling masters program?

I have had arthritis for the past 10 yrs. but am experiencing different pain ?

I am a 55 yr. old female, a right-leg amputee. (I had lost my leg due to staph infection 6 yrs. ago., and have a history of easily fractured bones.) I’ve had arthritis for over 10 yrs. Have been wheelchair-bound for the past 3 yrs., but stand occasionally. I’ve had more severe symptoms lately. Have been exercising more on my bed to lose weight, as I am morbidly obese. Went to my dr., had an x-ray, got the results back. Went back to my dr. to discuss the x-ray. He was blase about it, and offered celebrex or chondroitan. The radiology report states that I have a “partial lateral subluxation” (a partial dislocation of the proximal tibia bone(?)), and “remodeling of the tibial spine”. Also with large bone spurs, and likely a “suprapatellar effusion”, (which is fluid). My question is mostly for medical pros. Do you think I ought to get a second opinion with a specialist, or consult with a surgeon?

What jobs can I get in the medical field as a convicted felon in WA?

I was 19 years old at the time of the crime. I was convicted of 1st degree Robbery in 2004. I’m not on any probation anymore, and coming up in september it will have been 7 years since I’ve been convicted of this nightmare from my past. I have great refferences and job history. I’m going to try and get a volunteer gig at a hospital or some sort of medical office/building. I want to go to school for RADIOLOGY. Is it possible to obtain a license in this field with my one felony? Or any other medical field in Wa for that fact? I bartend now and want more for myself and am totally loving school right now. I think helping people is my calling and any help or guidance would be helpful. Thank you.

For the nurses/doctors please read!?

I want to become either a radiology technician/ultrasound technician/nurse. My worries are IF i become an RT and i get pregnant is it dangerous? or is there a way to work without harming the fetus? And also if I were to become a nurse I have a history of lymph node TB which was not contageous at all, and i went through treatment for 6 months, would this affect me in getting a Job?? Please help am confused? Also as a nurse has there be any mistakes where a patient died because of the nurses mistake, i fear a lot!

I need help deciding on a career that will help people with cancer?

I am currently a high school senior. I received a 4.0 for freshman and sophomore year. a 4.4 for junior year-A in AP Spanish, B in AP chem, A in US history honors, and B in Math analysis honors, A in regular english, and A in Chamber Choir. I started high school two weeks ago and I realized im so behind compared to the rest of the seniors who are already making their lists for colleges. I havent even started.

People always ask me what I want do i want major in/what do i want to be. I could never answer because I had no clue what i wanted to do in life. So recently, my dad past away due to liver cancer. the event seriously changed my life and made me realize that I want to do something that will help cancer patients.

I thought about oncologist or radiologist but that would require 4 yrs college + 4 yrs med school + residency which would take a really long time. Im worried that I won’t be able to handle med school because I heard its very challenging. Im scared of needles/blood/not sure if i can handle amputations, surgeries, and dead bodies because I heard you have to go through all the regular doctor training before specializing in lets say radiology. Im also worried that if i become a radiologist or oncologist, i wont have enough time with my kids or husband when i have a family.

What careers would be good for me(i really want to help out people with cancer)? if so, what should i major in and what college is the best to go to?

Just graduated from Pitt with a BA in Communication, but working at a call center :/?

So I just graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. I was all excited because I thought, “Finally, I’ll get a well-paying job I like and my life will finally begin!” Ha. Think again. Ever since January, I am stuck back at home living with my mother, and working at the call center for a bank, which I HATE, and am making ,000 a year. I can barely afford my student loan payments of nearly 0 a month and there is absolutely NO WAY that on my wage there I can also afford a rent/utilities/car payment a.k.a. to live on my own. Not only that (and I’m not saying this to be arrogant, but to simply prove a point about post-secondary education), but my co-workers at the call center are the people I graduated high school with, some of them in the “slower” classes, making the same, or more, than I am! I just went to school for 4 and half years, put myself ,000 in debt, all for what?? My employment history is good, as was my GPA, yet no one is hiring anyway!

So I guess I’d like to hear your thoughts on what I should do. Should I just keep trudging along and applying and applying and applying, or should I perhaps go back to school (I was thinking either nursing or cosmetology)? Even if I get my associate’s degree in nursing, or maybe a radiology tech or something of the like, I could find a job in a heartbeat, making probably grand right off the bat, and I could go anywhere in the country. Believe it or not the same holds true for hair stylists. There are a ton of job postings for them as well. I thought about going to cosmetology school when I graduated high school but my parents wouldn’t let me. I would plan on moving to a big city and try to get into a nice, upscale salon.

So, should I go back to school? I could get a use-able degree, make a decent salary, post pone my student loan payments (and would get only an associate’s so I wouldn’t be another ,000 in debt)…or should I stick it out and just stay positive and keep applying?
Actually, I am thinking about maybe getting my Associate’s to become a Radiology Tech.

What is calcification of the anterior falx cerebri?

Ideally I would like to hear from a radiology Doc, tech or student or neurophysiology student or professional specifically or any nurse or doc. It was an incidental finding when seen for vertigo Pt has history of subdural hematoma 2x but also congenital neuromotor defects. Two mri’s within 9 months one shoed it at 1 cm and most recent showed it at 1,5. Pt also uncontrolled bipolar with history of blackouts not alcohol or drug related could blackouts be related to calcification?
